Newton City Councilor Brenda Noel Endorses Jesse Mermell for Congress
NEWTON – Jesse Mermell today earned her third high profile endorsement from Newton with the support of City Councilor Brenda Noel.
Mermell previously earned the endorsements of Chairman of the Newton Fair Housing Committee and Former Newton City Councilor Ted Hess-Mahan and former Newton Democratic City Committee Chair and prominent Democratic activist Shawn Fitzgibbons.
“Jesse is an authentic self-starter who has worked tirelessly for the rights of women, for working families and for the betterment of communities across the Commonwealth,” said Councilor Noel. “This moment in our history calls for unwavering leadership and there is no candidate more qualified.”
“Councilor Noel strives to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard and that Newton is an inclusive community that reflects our progressive values,” said Mermell. “I look forward to partnering with her and other members of our Newton coalition to stand up to the hate coming from Donald Trump and work to build a more equitable future for all.”
Councilor Noel’s endorsement adds additional fuel to Mermell’s already accelerating campaign, becoming the 95th current or former elected to endorse, following in the footsteps of Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley and Auditor Suzanne Bump. Mermell has also been endorsed by 21 unions representing 269,000 workers and leading progressive organizations like NARAL Pro-Choice American and the Coalition for Social Justice.
Mermell has built the strongest grassroots campaign in the race, fueled by thousands of grassroots donors without any contributions from the fossil fuel industry or corporate PACs.
Election Day is September 1st but voters can vote-by-mail now or vote early in person beginning August 22nd.
